Man, I finally got around to watching the Red Dawn remake...seriously wishing I had seen the flick in the theater. I'll admit, I wasn't really expecting much out of it but it was a pleasant surprise. They stayed really super true to the feel and tone of the movie. I thought it was interesting...North Korea and Nicaragua, two countries that the US had fairly unfriendly relations with. I also liked the Dodge pickup they had in the new one. The stepside Chevy that Jed Eckert drove in the first one was definitely echoed by the new one. Well, at least it did for me. Hmmmmm...what else. Oh, I liked how the Wolverines made contact with the Free American Army. Just the right amount of humor there and Harry Dean Stanton super channeled Powers Boothe...in my opinion at least. Anyways, enough nutshells...I'll just wrap it up by saying this was a more than worthy successor to the original which is a very surprising thing.
